## In short

- Ignura is a GEO and SEO agency that gets B2B SaaS and devtools named in ChatGPT answers. ChatGPT search reads the pages OAI-SearchBot can reach and links its sources.
- We check that access, find the pages ChatGPT cites for your buyer questions, then build or earn yours. Ignura is new and has no results to show yet, and nobody can promise you a mention.
- An AI-native agency that automates your GEO and SEO. You approve what goes out. Start with a free Growth Check.

## How ChatGPT finds its sources

OpenAI's help center says ChatGPT can search the web to answer questions with current information and links to relevant sources, and that responses using web search may include citations. So the work is getting your pages into the set it can reach, then making them the clearest answer in that set.

OpenAI documents three agents, and each robots.txt setting is independent of the others. **OAI-SearchBot** surfaces websites in ChatGPT's search features, and OpenAI says sites opted out of it will not be shown in ChatGPT search answers. **ChatGPT-User** may visit a page when someone asks ChatGPT a question, and OpenAI says it is not used to decide whether content may appear in search. **GPTBot** crawls content that may be used to train OpenAI's models. Blocking GPTBot does not take you out of search answers, as long as OAI-SearchBot is allowed.

If you want the steps to do this yourself, read [how to get your SaaS recommended by ChatGPT](https://ignura.com/blog/get-saas-recommended-by-chatgpt). This page is about the work when we do it for you.

## What we check first

1. **robots.txt.** We check the rules for OAI-SearchBot, ChatGPT-User and GPTBot on every subdomain that serves pages buyers read. OpenAI says it can take about 24 hours from a robots.txt update for its search systems to adjust. The free [AI crawler checker](https://ignura.com/tools/ai-crawler-checker) shows what your robots.txt allows today.
2. **Firewall and CDN.** A robots.txt allow does nothing if a firewall blocks the request first. OpenAI recommends allowing requests from its published IP ranges for OAI-SearchBot ([searchbot.json](https://openai.com/searchbot.json)) and publishes ranges for ChatGPT-User too. We check your rules against the current lists.
3. **Pages that read without JavaScript.** We fetch your key pages as plain HTML and check that the answer is in the text, not only in a script. The wider list is on [technical SEO](https://ignura.com/technical-seo).
4. **An answer in the first lines.** For each buyer question we check whether one of your pages answers it near the top, in plain words, with the facts a reader would want to quote.

Which crawlers to allow and which to block is a choice, and [AI crawlers in robots.txt](https://ignura.com/blog/ai-crawlers-robots-txt) walks through it.

## The pages ChatGPT cites for B2B SaaS questions

ChatGPT cites pages from across the web, not just your own site. When we asked ChatGPT which GEO agency to hire in our own buyer test on 28 Oct, the answers cited roundups written by agencies that list themselves first, plus review sites and Reddit threads. Your category will have its own mix, and finding it is the first job.

## What we build

On your own site, we draft the pages your buyer questions need, such as a service page, a comparison or a docs page, each with the answer in its first lines. You approve each one before it goes live. We can add an llms.txt and plain .md copies of key pages too, which you can draft with the [llms.txt generator](https://ignura.com/tools/llms-txt-generator).

Off your site, our AI finds the pages ChatGPT cites for your buyer questions. We fix the listings you control first, then ask the authors of the rest to take a fair look at you. The work is the same as on [citations](https://ignura.com/citations), with ChatGPT's answers as the list to work from. For Google's AI answers, see [AI Overviews](https://ignura.com/ai-overviews). For Perplexity and Gemini, see [Perplexity SEO](https://ignura.com/perplexity-seo) and [Gemini SEO](https://ignura.com/gemini-seo).

## How we track it

We agree a fixed set of buyer questions with you and ask ChatGPT the same questions every week. For each answer we log whether you are named, which of your pages it links and which other sources it cites. Answers vary between runs, so we read the trend across weeks, not a single answer. [How to track AI visibility](https://ignura.com/blog/how-to-track-ai-visibility) has the method, and the wider picture is on [AI search](https://ignura.com/ai-search).

## What we won't do

We don't pay for placements, post fake Reddit threads, or buy reviews or links. We don't pay OpenAI or publishers to list you.

## How to start

Every engagement starts with a free Growth Check: we look at your crawler access and how ChatGPT answers a few of your buyer questions today. If you sell to developers, [devtools](https://ignura.com/devtools) covers how the work fits your buyers. What the work costs is on [pricing](https://ignura.com/pricing).

## Questions

### Is ChatGPT SEO different from Google SEO?

Most of the groundwork is the same: pages that crawlers can reach and that answer the question clearly. The differences are the crawler (OAI-SearchBot, not Googlebot), the firewall rules for OpenAI's published IP ranges, and how you measure it, which is by asking ChatGPT your buyer questions and logging what it names and cites.

### If I block GPTBot, can ChatGPT still cite me?

Yes, for search. OpenAI says each setting is independent, and that a site can allow OAI-SearchBot to appear in search results while disallowing GPTBot. Sites opted out of OAI-SearchBot will not be shown in ChatGPT search answers, so allow OAI-SearchBot if you want to be cited.

### Does ChatGPT read llms.txt?

OpenAI publishes an llms.txt and .md copies for its own developer docs. We have not found a statement from OpenAI that llms.txt affects which sources ChatGPT search cites, so we treat it as optional. You can draft one with the [llms.txt generator](https://ignura.com/tools/llms-txt-generator).

### How soon will ChatGPT name us?

We won't give you a date. It depends on whether OAI-SearchBot can reach your pages, whether one of them answers the question better than the sources ChatGPT already cites, and how often those sources change. Access fixes come first, and OpenAI says robots.txt changes can take about 24 hours to reach its search systems.

### Do you pay OpenAI or publishers to get us listed?

No. We don't buy placements, links or reviews. We fix your own pages and listings, and ask the authors of cited pages to review you on the merits.
