## In short

- After a Series A, search has to become a channel you can plan around. That means more buyer-intent pages built as programs (comparisons, integrations, use cases), share of AI answers tracked as a number, and reporting that ties search to pipeline.
- The basics from seed still apply. What changes is scale: more pages, more competitors in the same answers, and a board that asks what search sends.
- The open question is who does the work: an agency, a hire or both. Start with a free Growth Check.

## What changes after seed

1. **More pages.** You sell to more segments, connect to more tools and replace more rivals. Each of those is a set of questions buyers ask, and each question needs a page that answers it.
2. **More competitors in the same answers.** Funded rivals write the same comparison and "best X" pages you do. An AI answer names a handful of tools, so the fight is over which pages the engines read and quote.
3. **Reporting to a board.** Search now sits next to paid and outbound in the plan. It needs numbers that come in on a schedule and connect to sign-ups and pipeline, not a rankings screenshot.

At seed the job is a small set of pages that Google and AI crawlers can read. That work is on [SEO and GEO for seed-stage SaaS](https://ignura.com/seed-stage-saas). After a Series A, three things change.

## Page programs, not one-off posts

1. **Comparisons and alternatives.** One fair page per rival your buyers name, plus an alternatives page for each tool they already use. [How to write SaaS comparison pages](https://ignura.com/blog/saas-comparison-pages) has the structure.
2. **Integrations.** One page per tool you connect to, saying what the integration does and how to set it up. Buyers search for the pair of tools, and agents read these pages when they check whether two tools work together.
3. **Use cases.** One page per job or team you serve, with the workflow, the setup and the limits written plainly.

At this stage most new pages come in programs: one template, one set of facts and many pages that follow the same pattern. Three programs fit most B2B SaaS sites.

## Keep programs useful at scale

Google's spam policies describe scaled content abuse as many pages generated mainly to manipulate rankings rather than help users, no matter how they are made. A program passes that test when each page carries facts the others do not: the real integration steps, the real differences from a rival, a real customer workflow. Pages that only swap a name in a template fail it.

So ship in batches. Publish 10 to 20 pages, check which get indexed and which show up for the questions they target, fix the template, then do the next batch. [Programmatic SEO for SaaS](https://ignura.com/blog/programmatic-seo-for-saas) covers the data model and the quality checks. If your site runs on Next.js, the [Next.js technical SEO checklist](https://ignura.com/blog/nextjs-technical-seo) covers sitemaps, canonicals and real 404s for templated pages.

## Share of AI answers as a tracked metric

Share of AI answers is how often your product is named across a fixed set of buyer questions on ChatGPT, Perplexity and Google's AI features. After a Series A it belongs in the same report as traffic and pipeline.

It needs a method, because answers change between runs. SparkToro ran the same prompts many times and found less than a 1 in 100 chance that ChatGPT or Google's AI gave the same list of brands in any two answers. So keep the questions and the schedule fixed, run each question several times and report the share, not one screenshot. The work behind the number is on [AI search](https://ignura.com/ai-search).

Google's side is easier to read now. Search Console's generative AI reports show impressions in AI Overviews and AI Mode, and Google says they reached every site on 31 August 2026. For visits, Google Analytics shows how to set up an "AI assistants" channel in a custom channel group, so AI referrals stop hiding in referral traffic and can be traced to sign-ups.

## Agency, in-house or both

A Series A team usually ends up with both. An in-house owner knows the product and the customers and decides what gets written. An agency brings people for technical SEO, page programs and AI-answer tracking without three separate hires, and can start before the hire is made.

A common split: the in-house lead owns the plan, the voice and the subject experts. The agency builds the programs, runs the technical work and produces the citation and impression numbers. [SEO agency vs in-house](https://ignura.com/blog/seo-agency-vs-in-house-for-startups) goes through the choice stage by stage.

## How Ignura fits this stage

## Questions

### How is SEO different after a Series A?

At seed the job is a few pages that answer buyer questions. After a Series A it is page programs at scale, more funded rivals in the same answers, and numbers a board will read. The technical basics stay the same.

### What is share of AI answers?

It is how often your product is named across a fixed set of buyer questions on ChatGPT, Perplexity and Google's AI features. Because answers change between runs, run each question several times on a set schedule and report the share.

### Is programmatic SEO safe for a SaaS site?

It can be, if every page carries facts the others do not. Google's spam policies cover scaled content abuse: many pages made mainly to rank rather than to help users. Ship in batches and check what gets indexed before you add more.

### Should a Series A startup hire in-house or use an agency?

Often both. An in-house lead owns the plan and the product knowledge. An agency covers technical SEO, page programs and AI-answer tracking without three separate hires. Our guide to choosing an SEO agency or an in-house hire covers the trade-offs by stage.

### How do we report search to a board?

Report a few numbers on a fixed schedule: share of AI answers on the same buyer questions, Search Console impressions including the generative AI report, and sign-ups and pipeline from organic and AI referral traffic.
